India’s government offically agreed to allow 2.4 Ghz and 5.1 Ghz bands for WiFi useage. Currently there are about 300 Hotspots in the entire country and \~80% of them are in Banglore! Soon many companies will start providing the service to many major cities throughout the country. Also Barista, an Indian version of Starbucks, is also starting to provide WiFi for their customers. This will also be a much easier alternative access the internet instead of DSL, Cable, or Dial-Up.
